Watch this space, we are proud to be part of a team strengthening the connection of food growth in the city, from garden to table.
An exciting new venture alongside the Ōtākaro Awa/river is underway, Ōtākaro Orchard is New Zealand's first urban food hub. A place where locals and visitors alike can learn and be inspired by sustainable food systems, created entirely by the people and businesses of Canterbury.

This Urban food hub will stand out as the people involved in this project have been busy not only just planning the construction of an amazing building but considering sustainable living ideals that it intends to incorporate into the infrastructure like composting toilets, use of natural materials, solar power, passive heating, irrigation for food forest from rain water collected.

A group of Volunteers have been involved planting fruit trees/hua rākau and planning education workshops on organic principles and making clay blocks for the project .
We are onsite and ready go......
